Dr. Brian Chu is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience in clinical practice. He specializes in helping youth and young adults with anxiety disorders and depression. His expertise lies in the practice of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), exposure therapy, and behavioral activation. He also utilizes mindfulness and values-based approaches to free individuals from the barriers that hold them back. He also founded and directs the Youth Anxiety and Depression Clinic (YAD-C), a university-based research clinic designed to provide best practice behavioral therapies for youth and families.
Dr. Chu is an accomplished scholar and researcher, serving as a professor of clinical psychology at Rutgers University. He has written over 50 scholarly and scientific publications, presented over 70 professional workshops and clinical training, edited a book, Transdiagnostic Treatments for Children and Adolescents: Principles and Practice, and authored three treatment manuals. He is also the current Editor-in-Chief of the scholarly journal, Cognitive & Behavioral Practice. He maintains an important presence in national professional organizations, including the Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT) and the Society for Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology (SCCAP, APA Div 53), for which he has chaired and served on committees committed to promoting evidence-based psychology in the field and improving best practices in clinical care and professional training.
